Day 1: Guwahati

Arrive Guwahati. Received and transfer to Hotel. Evening, visit Shankerdev Kalashetra. Overnight.

Guwahati - the capital city of Assam, is considered to be the gateway to North East India. It is situated on the southern bank of the Brahmaputra River.

Srimanta Shankerdev Kalashetra - a multi-art complex portrays the rich cultural diversity and life of Assam as well as that of the North-east. This art complex has been named after a greatest Vaishnava saint and the integrator of the Assamese society.

Day 2: Kaziranga National Park

Early morning visit Kamakhya Temple. After breakfast drive to Kaziranga National Park (220kms/5hrs). Reach late in the afternoon. Overnight at a jungle resort.

Kamakhya Temple, a center of Tantricism, which dates back to the Vedic and Puranic times. One of the best-known temple of Guwahati is Kamakhya, situated on Nilachal Hill, 8 kms west of the city. This temple honor Goddess Kamakhya, the essence of female energy. It is one of the 108 Shakti Peeths of Goddess Durga. Legend has it that Kamakhya came into existence when Lord Shiva was carrying the corpse of his wife Sati, and her "yoni" fell to the ground at the spot where the temple now stands. The temple is a natural cave with a spring. Down a flight of steps to the bowel of earth, is located a dark, mysterious chamber.

Day 3: Kaziranga

Full day at Kaziranga - option for early morning elephant ride followed by jeep safaris after breakfast and lunch. Overnight. (Kaziranga National Park is officially open for visitors from 01 November to 30 April every year. However, between May and October limited elephant ride and jeep safaris are still possible, subject to weather conditions, in the periphery of the park. Rhinos are in abundance and therefore the chances of sighting rhinos and other park animals are as good as during the official opening period of the park. Further one can explore the park by boat also.)

Day 4: Dirang

Early morning drive to Dirang (270kms/7hrs), the sub-divisional headquarters of West Kameng district in Arunachal Pradesh is situated (5563ft) between Bomdila and Tawang. Steeped in scenic beauty, this town is situated in the valley of river Kameng This place is inhibited by the Monpa tribe. Enroute see the Tippi Orchidarium. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 5: Tawang

After breakfast drive to Tawang (180kms/6hrs) Overnight at Hotel.

The way to Tawang is a scenic drive through the serpentine roads alongside the river Kameng. Beautiful landscapes throughout the drive keeps one engaged. There is a strong Tibetan presence in Tawang. Prayer flags flutter in the breeze. Cross the Sella Pass at 13,700 ft. Enroute stop at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial-to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who single-handedly tried to hold of the approaching Chinese from the pass during the 1962 Indo-Chinese war. The sinuous road to Tawang passes through the dragon gates on the awesome heights of the Sella Pass.

Day 6: Tawang

Full day excursion in and around Tawang. Visit the 2nd oldest Buddhist monastery of Asia,-the birthplace of the 6th Dalai Lama. Visit the War memorial and the state emporium. Overnight at the hotel.

At Tawang, visit the famous Buddhist Monastery which was in the route chosen by the Dalai Lama to enter India from Tibet. A stunning 8 mtrs. high glided statue of Buddha dominates the sanctum. Attached to the monastery, there is a Museum and a library with priceless collections. The monastery is one of the largest in Asia and it houses about thousand monks. Visit the craft centre that sells beautiful masks, hand-woven carpets, tangkhas, and jewellery in silver, turquoise, coral and amber. The museum presents the rich cultural diversity of Tawang. The stupa-like Tawang war memorial also salutes the heroes of the war. The emporium houses traditional textiles and artifacts.

Day 7: Bomdila

After breakfast drive to Bomdila (230kms/6hrs), a place of misty mountains, lush forest, apple orchards and Buddhist monasteries. Overnight at Hotel.

Day 8: Tezpur

After breakfast drive to Tezpur (160kms/7hrs). Overnight at Hotel.

At Tezpur, visit some of the ancient temples and monuments steeped in mythology, legend and folklore on the north bank of the river Brahmaputra. Tezpur has magnificent scenic beauty and exquisite archaeological ruins of 5th -6th century.

Day 9: Guwahati

After breakfast drive to Guwahati (200kms/5hrs. Reach in the afternoon and option to take a boat cruise in the Brahmaputra river to Umananda Temple in the midst of the river. Overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Guwahati

After breakfast departure transfer to the airport for onwards destination.
